SLO Buddhist Women's Association
Happy New Year! Akemashite Omedeto Gozaimasu! Kung Hee Fat Choy!

In any language, I wish everyone a very healthy and prosperous 2019. As we grow older, the good health wishes are becoming more meaningful and significant.

There has been a lot of information sent out by the BCA and SLOBC about the upcoming 16th World Buddhist Women’s Convention in San Francisco from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, 2019. If you are interested in attending, please let me know as soon as possible. The first deadline for registration is January 31, 2019. We have to register everyone on one form and pay with one check. At this time there are 6 members of SLOBWA and SLOBC planning to attend. There has been 2 raffle drawings that have raised almost $400 to help pay for the registration fees for SLOBWA members. We plan to have more fundraisers in the next few months. Please support the fundraisers and plan to attend the convention.

The Activities Committee is busily planning the New Year Party and Keirokai. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, Jan. 26, from 11:00 a.m. There will be invitations sent out so watch your mail for details and do plan to attend.

In the Wheel of Dharma there was an article about the BCA’s program called “Arigato Obaachan”. I would encourage you to support this program and make a donation in the name of a woman who has influenced you in the teachings of the Dharma whether she is your mother, grandmother, aunt or good friend. Your donation will be recognized in different colored leaves on a tree at the 16th World Buddhist Women’s Convention.

President's Message
Agemashite Omedeto Gozaimasu! Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a nice Holiday! Wow! It’s a new year, 2019, and it is going to be a very busy year for all. Get your flu shot, take vitamins and get plenty of rest. We are going to need it and just thinking about it wears me out.

On Saturday, December 8th, we had Temple Clean-up and Omigaki. Thank you for coming out to help make the Omigaki shine for the New Year.

January is a busy month. The Activities Committee is planning the New Year’s Party and Keiro Kai celebration. We are looking for volunteers to help; please contact any board member if you have some extra spare time.

Please come to Sunday service and for our members, pick up your 2019 Calendar. It will be located in the foyer on the table with your name on the front of its envelope. Thank you.
