We have a new date for the Tri County Seminar being
hosted by SLO Buddhist Women’s Association!
Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 23, 2017,
from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church’s social hall. The Oxnard
Buddhist Temple members have hired a bus to bring them and members from the Buddhist Church of Santa Barbara. Guadalupe Buddhist Church members are also planning to attend. Please make every effort to support our SLOBWA in this event that we host just once every four years. The agenda includes an opening service by Rev. Nakano, a talk by Denise Gimbel, RN MPH Coordinator at French Medical Center, a simple craft project and then time to renew friendships and meet new friends. We have a fun and informative two hours planned and encourage our members to participate.

The annual BCA National Council meeting was held at the San Jose Betsuin and Marriott Hotels from March 1 to 5. Donna Sato and Tom Nishikawa were the delegates from SLOBC. Greer Nishikawa also attended the meetings and workshops. SLOBC and Guadalupe Buddhist Church hosted the hospitality room on Thursday night by providing the beverages. The Buddhist Temple of Salinas provided all the delicious food.

Rev. Nakano, Donna Sato, Janis Eto, Greer and Tom Nishikawa, Gary Hongo and I attended the 57th Annual Coast District BWL Conference on March 11 at the Monterey Peninsula Buddhist Temple. We had a fun and informative day and enjoyed the camaraderie with members from the various churches of the Coast District. Please join us for next year’s conference.

On April 9, the Hanamatsuri service will be held followed by a delicious luncheon of teriyaki chicken bowls. Please make every effort to attend this special service.
