Thank you to Alan Hayashi, the BBQ crew, the SLO BWA
ladies, the golf hole sitters, the volun-teers, sponsors and
all who helped before, during and after the SLOBC Annual
Golf Tournament! It was another successful event as
evidenced by the good golf, delicious food, laughter and
camarade-rie that were shared throughout the day. The golf tournament is one of the major fundraisers for the SLOBC and helps to provide funds for programs, repairs and maintenance to the church buildings and grounds and activities throughout the year. A huge thank you to all who help make the golf tour-nament an event that many people look forward to every year. Alan Hayashi works very hard on this so please be sure to thank him when you see him.
A BWA meeting will be held on Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m. There will be a short business meet-ing and then fun. We will be making bead brace-lets that our members were not able to make at the Tri County Seminar as we helped the other people with their bracelets. Sylvia Bridge will bring beads, charms and her expertise to guide us in making beautiful keepsakes. We will also have delicious refreshments. Please come to socialize, be creative and just have a good time at our church.
Obon Festival is coming soon on Saturday, August 5. Planning has been in the works for several months. Volunteers are needed prior to the Obon day and during that day. We need all of our mem-bers to help in this major event so please let one of the board members know of your willingness to help.
Julie Conaway is taking the lead this year in learning and then teaching us the Obon dances. Julie has sign-up sheets in the church social hall for you to be contacted when the dance practices will be held. You can also contact me at shongo@surewest.net and I will relay that infor-mation to Julie. The dance practices are always fun and Julie is a wonderful teacher!
